- What kind of neighborhoods can you find in and around Austin?
- Any type you could imagine. Central Austin boasts a growing downtown urban core and CBD that is realizing it's dream of becoming a great living, walkable city. Central Austin north of the river ("mid town") has many wonderful old Austin 'hoods like Hyde Park, Brykerwoods, Old Enfield, French Place, Allandale and more. The convenience of these areas cannot be beat, with proximity to UT, major employers, eateries and conveniences.
South of the River, Austin has some well-known relaxed areas in the 78704 ZIP, notably Zilker, Bouldin Creek, Barton Hills and Travis Heights. Hugging the popular South Congress area (SoCo), these neighborhoods offer walkability to trendy eateries and old Austin music venues. Further south is Cherry Creek and Western Trails.
In West Austin you'll find Tarrytown, Balcones, Highland Hills, Northwest Hills and West Lake Hills, iconic upscale neighborhoods with great schools and estate homes. The suburbs in and around the city also have much to offer, from Cedar Park and Leander northwest, to Lakeway/Lake Travis out west, Buda and Kyle down south, and Bastrop east. In these areas you can realize your dreams of more land, larger homes, or both. The bedroom communities of Georgetown and Round Rock, home of Dell and just North of the city, also offer relative proximity and convenience.
